Margaret Whedon, Ph.D.
Postdoctoral Scholar
Dr. Margaret Whedon is a postdoctoral fellow in I-LABS working with Dr. Patricia Kuhl. She has a PhD in Human Development and Family Studies and a training background in psychophysiology techniques (EEG, ECG). Her research interests pertain to the development of expressive language and inhibitory self-control.
Her current work is focused on the categorization of prelinguistic vocalizations in the first 6 months of life (crying, laughing, "protophones"), their relations to canonical babbling and subsequent speech-language trajectories. Ultimately, Dr. Whedon aspires to obtain grant funding to conduct her own independent research focused on language development.
