Anastasia Samuelsen
Research Assistant
Anastasia Samuelsen is a research assistant in Dr. Patricia Kuhl's lab at the Institute of Learning and Brain Sciences. She has over 30 years of experience working with young children and families in both academic and research settings, most notably at the UW Social Development Research Group and School of Nursing, Seattle Children's Hospital and in both public and private Montessori programs. She earned her BA at the University of California at Berkeley in Medieval History, her Montessori directress credential from the National Center for Montessori Education, her MEd at Antioch University Seattle and holds a current Washington State Teaching Certificate.
Her interests include the psychosocial development of young children and the unique neurological interplay of caregiver-child verbal and non-verbal interactions. She strives to make complicated scientific concepts understandable and accessible to educators and families, and believes the rich internal landscapes of children's minds should be explored with deep respect and wonder.
