Zachary studies the physics of magnetoencephalography (MEG) as a graduate student of Dr. Samu Taulu. His work centers on the challenge of inferring the mechanisms of learning in the brains of developing infants by applying the tools of physics, information theory, and machine learning. To this end, he has developed a novel metric to quantify the amount of true and false information yielded by the array of sensors within the MEG machine. Zachary is currently applying this metric to determine acceptable error bounds for current and next-generation magnetometer arrays.
